KYOTOGRAPHIEのレジデンスの一環として京都で3ヶ月を過ごしたカピタンは思春期のエッセンスを美しく捉えている。それは、後から振り返って初めて十分に理解できる、期待に満ちた黄金の瞬間である。『おおきに青春』は、読者をこうした個人的・文化的な交流に誘い、青春という優しく、何度も訪れることのない時間に心からの別れを告げる。

このプロジェクトは2週間のスカウトでした——過去1年間でジャマイカへの2度目の訪問です。現地のミュージシャン、プロデューサー、レコードコレクター、先駆者、そしてハスラーたちとの予期せぬ瞬間を捉えることを目的としていました。当初のスカウトで設定された人物の輪は、道中で出会った人々との関係や対話を通じて広がっていきました。ほとんどの日は、ストーリーの構造を無視し、シナリオを増やすため、制作車両で裏道を走り回っていました。
